Formed in 1993, the Competitive Edge Planning Committee
is a consortium of public and private partners working together
to increase its roster of qualified Disadvantaged Minority,
Women Business Enterprise (D/M/WBEs) and create procurement
and contracting opportunities for qualified firms.
Now in its 15th year, this unique consortium combines for
over $30 billion in contracting and procurement opportunities.
To help facilitate small businesses with contracting and
procurement opportunities, the Competitive Edge Planning
Committee organizes and hosts an annual conference to present
D/M/WBEs with invaluable contracting opportunities. The
Competitive Edge Conference allows D/M/WBEs the opportunity
to network with various procurement specialists, General
Contractors, and key decision makers from State and City
agencies and private partners. New vendors can also learn
first-hand how to become certified.
Program sponsors include: Battery Park City Authority,
Bovis Lend Lease, City of Yonkers Office of Economic Development
Corp., Columbia University, Crescent Consulting, Dormitory
Authority State of New York, Empire State Development Corporation,
Hudson River Park Trust, Lower Manhattan Construction Command
Center, Metropolitan Transportation Authority, NYC Department
of Education, NYC Department of Small Business Services,
NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation, NYC School Construction
Authority, NY Power Authority, The Port Authority of New
York and New Jersey, and General Contractors and private
